SO in my post, “How I Am Learning to Kiss My Comfort Zone Goodbye”, I talked about my Ultra Marathon journey at Orangetheory this month. And pushing past my comfort zone on a regular basis to meet a somewhat crazy goal. And then a crazier one.
This entailed telling that voice in my head to SHUTUP on a regular basis, ignoring people who told me it was silly or frivolous, and feeling really uncomfortable. A lot.
So to recap, the first goal was to do the Ultra Marathon, or 31.3 miles in April. Then 60 miles. Then I decided it would actually be the Ultra Marathon 2x, or 62.6 miles. Then a little over halfway into the month, one of the staff at OTF said “I challenge you to do 80”. Which seemed crazy. And required me to keep going after I really wanted to quit. And the last 10 days or so I have been tired and achy, and really wanting to quit. And since I knew I would be out of town the 29th and 30th, I knew I HAD to get my mileage by today.
SO did I do it??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Well??????????????
YEAH BABY! 80.942! And how cool does that feel? Amazing.
And although I can’t go at the crazy pace I have been this month ALL the time, now I know I can’t go back to where I was before. I simply can’t get my heart rate up at those paces anymore. This is kind of my new normal. I made myself a runner one day at a time. Nuts. And I am going to keep setting crazy goals for myself in every area of my life. I have to. AND YOU CAN TOO!
DO IT!
